It's About The Budget...Stupid!
Thumbing today through the Wall Street Journal Online Edition, I was struck by the manner in which legislators and public official meet demanding budgets. Cut Education!
Now then, it doesn't take a College Professor or a High School Principal to know -- This Means Teacher Layoffs...
As painful as this will be (trust me, I Know), it comes from this perspective...
It's About The Budget...Stupid!
Over the last 3-5 years, private industry has suffered through PAINFUL cuts in jobs, capital improvements, etc. The blood-letting is beginning to subside. The Private Funds the Public. Make sense?
In turn, a Trickle-Down economy manifests a scorched-earth -- in a Down Economy. What makes anyone believe that Sacred Cows (the public education system) would be immune to the blood-letting as well.
I'M FOR Education
I'm an advocate for Kids; I'm for raising teacher salaries. Yet, I'm against Fraud, Waste, and Abuse. Therefore, I must ask this of our Public Administrators (Mayors, City Managers, School Administrators...): 'Are we doing ALL we can do to gain every possible bit of efficiency out of the public's (as well as corporate) tax dollars?
What are your thoughts? I'd learn to hear from you all --even if you don't share my views...
